About GBL Note

GBL Note is a free service for trainers who play the Pokémon GO Go Battle League (GBL). Log the opponents you meet in battle, and when you face them again, check their past teams and moves within seconds.

The creator — built by a real Legend-rank battler

GBL Note is built and run by a Go Battle League Legend-rank player. The operator has reached GBL Legend across 5 seasons and is an active battler with a current rating of 3,003 and a lifetime record of 13,030 battles and 6,864 wins, playing the Great, Ultra, Master, and Championship formats. That's why the data and analysis here are validated from the perspective of someone who actually wins — not just theory.

What you can do

Log opponents — save the trainer name, three Pokémon, moves, and notes for an opponent you just faced. The next time you meet the same trainer, search a few letters of their name to instantly pull up your past record.

Your record — see wins, losses, and win rate by league, your record by day, and your record against each opponent deck at a glance.

Live meta · tier list — public data you can view without logging in. By anonymously aggregating the opponents that users actually faced, it shows what you meet most in the current league (live pick rate), which Pokémon are strong (tier list), and the counters for each Pokémon.

How the data is built

The live meta is aggregated only as anonymized statistics with personal identifiers removed, drawn from the battle logs GBL Note users leave. Tiers and recommended movesets are based on public battle simulation data, and pairing that with users’ live pick rates is what makes GBL Note distinctive — you can see the theoretically strong Pokémon alongside the ones you actually meet most.

Data methodology — what, and how

External open data

PvPoke battle simulation (tiers, recommended moves, matchups) and game sprites. We cite sources and never copy them verbatim — they are only inputs to our own calculation and interpretation.

GBL Note's own measured data

Opponents users actually faced, anonymized with identifiers removed, aggregated into per-league live pick rates (last 30 days). Original data other sites cannot replicate.

GBL Note's own analysis

We compare theoretical tiers against live pick rates and lay out counters and key matchups. (Compromise-IV, CMP and breakpoint deep-dives coming.)

Data validation & quality rules

We don't ship raw computed output as-is — only values that pass our quality rules are shown. For Pokémon without enough field sample in the last 30 days, we don't fabricate a live-meta verdict; we clearly state the analysis is simulation- and type-based instead, and every analysis labels its base season and data source. Movepools are kept in sync with the current season's game data.

Usage notes

The logging features are free, and ads may be included to keep the service running. GBL Note is a fan-made unofficial tool.
